SIGV is collaborating with local businesses, governmental agencies, hospitals, medical clinics, and service providers to raise awareness, provide education, and actively prevent sex trafficking within our community.
With a commitment to awareness, advocacy, and action, SIGV is currently spearheading the following educational campaigns and projects:
Anti-Human Trafficking Symposium
Join SIGV on April 4, 2025 for our Anti-Human Trafficking Symposium. This important event will bring together local governmental agencies, law enforcement, hospitals, educators, service providers, and former survivors of sex trafficking to share knowledge, strategies, and experiences.
July 30th - World Day Against Human Trafficking
This year, the United Nations theme for World Day Against Human Trafficking is “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking.” With children representing 1 in 3 victims of human trafficking worldwide, this issue is of urgent importance.
To raise awareness and support this vital cause, SIGV is collaborating with local coffee shops. On July 30th, these establishments will use specially prepared coffee sleeves to highlight the fight against human trafficking and to show their commitment to protecting vulnerable children.
Join us in spreading awareness and making a difference by supporting our local partners: Flour Garden Bakery, Sierra Mountain Roaster, Java John's, Outer Heaven Espresso and Wildflower Coffee.
Supporting Local Businesses in Compliance with Civil Code 52.6
Civil Code 52.6 mandates that certain businesses display a notice with critical information, including a hotline number for victims of human trafficking to seek help. To assist local businesses in meeting this requirement, SIGV is offering free poster notices and training.
Any establishment that needs assistance with compliance can request our comprehensive training and receive the necessary posters. Our goal is to ensure every business is equipped to support and protect those in need.
Partnering with Educators to Combat Online Recruitment of Youth
SIGV is collaborating with educators to raise awareness among students, parents, teachers, and administrators about the dangers of social media recruitment for sex trafficking. According to Shared Hope’s National Report on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking, reports of youth victims recruited through technology have surged by 800% over the past two years. Additionally, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that there are 750,000 online predators worldwide at any given moment.
Our social media awareness training is essential for equipping these key groups with the knowledge and tools to recognize and prevent online exploitation. By working together, we can better protect our youth from these growing threats.
